Academic Support
Our After-School Tutoring Program provides focused academic support for students in grades 1–8. This extended learning opportunity gives students the extra time, practice, and attention needed to master key concepts in reading and math.
-
DLA offers after school tutoring for 50–70 students in 1st–8th grades. High dosage tutoring is provided in reading and math four hours each week. This small group support results in improved academic performance.
Bringing Curriculum to Life Through Art
The arts inspire creativity, expression, and deeper learning. Through our partnership with Muse Machine, DLA brings professional artists into the classroom to connect the arts with academic subjects — helping students explore new perspectives and make learning come alive.
-
DLA partners with Muse Machine to provide an Artist in Residence. The arts are a powerful way to illuminate any classroom subject. During weeklong residencies, elementary teachers and artists work together pairing the artist’s professional skills with the school’s curriculum.
During the residency, the artist, teacher, and students write original songs and choreograph dance pieces that help students learn math, science, history, or language arts.
